These little crackers taste so much like Cheez-It crackers – that even I was impressed. My husband said, “these are so addicting.” =)
Try adding different types of cheese. Swiss would be good. Oh my! Try adding a pinch of Chipotle Chile Pepper.
The possibilities are endless.
- 8 oz, weight sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
- 4 Tablespoons unsalted butter, cut into cubes
- 1 cup whole wheat all-purpose flour
- 1/4 to 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. onion powder
- 2 Tablespoons cold water
Pulse everything (except water) together in food processor or until dough resembles coarse sand.
Pulse in water, 1 tablespoon at a time.
Remove dough and wrap in plastic, and chill for 20 minutes.
Roll out dough into desired shapes and place on parchment paper lined cookie sheet.
Bake @ 350F for 10 to 15 minutes, or until crispy
